Exploratory Essay Abortion - 1498 Words

There are many limitations valued when it comes to the right of abortion. The news media still outlines the pros and cons of anti-abortion rights in certain-states-to soon, the entire country. My perspectives on the issue of abortion have been entitled from it to never be banned among citizen’s rights. The reproduction of pregnancy has been emphasized heavily on a mother’s decision to abort their child, but the father of the child plays an active role since he considers to that particular title. Through this current issue, majority of the people against abortion do not seem to have an open mind to how much it primarily affects the decision of the mother amongst her own views of considering abortion. In my freshman year of high school, I†¦show more content†¦Prior to having an abortion, I became indecisive on many reasons, so I looked at the pros and cons of the dilemma to better justify my reasoning. I was only seventeen years old in my junior year of high scho ol when I found out I was two months pregnant. The main reasons I concluded to my choice, were because I knew I wanted to go to college, and raising a baby while in school I knew would be a difficult task to handle. My second reasoning was I didn’t want to be portrayed as the typical teenage girl who was pregnant, since majority of the girl’s at my school had gotten inpregnated. I knew I did not want to end up alone either. Even though I had gotten pregnant by my boyfriend, I still underestimated the fact that he would help me through my situation. The last reason was, because I did not want to disappoint my parents. My father mentioned to me a while back that if I ever gotten pregnant, he would kick me out his house. I couldn’t bear pass the thought of what might happen since he suffers from a bipolar disorder. My mom on the other hand, would be even more stressed by the situation, since she already is dealing with enough problems of her own. The experience of having an abortion was painful and scary. I felt alone in the surgical room, and by then I realized that I am doing one of the hardest things a woman can possibly do. Im cool Essay The title of the novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, can be interpreted as a theme running through the novel. Pride, observed Mary, . . . is a very common failing, I believe. By all that I have ever read, I am convinced that it is very common indeed, that human nature is particularly prone to it, and that there are very few of us who do not cherish a feeling of self-complacency on the score of some quality or another, real or imaginary. Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion ofourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us. Pride and/or vanity is exhibited in different forms by each character. Ms. Austen was trying to send the message that an excess of pride or vanity is indeed a failing. Those characters who can recognize their flaw emerge as the true heroes of the story. In many minor characters of the novel, pride is a common characteristic. Mrs. Bennet, for instance, is extremely proud when itcomes to her daughters marriages of mercenary advantage. She is so concerned that her neighbors have a high opinion of her that her own vanity will not even allow her to think of her daughters love and happiness. This is best shown with the case of Elizabeth Bennet s proposed marriage to the esteemed Mr. Collins, a man she did not love. Mrs. Bennet was so upset when her daughter refused Mr. Collins offer that she would not speak to her for passing up such an opportunity. We can see an example of pride for imaginary qualities in Mary Bennet who was herself the speaker of this passage. To the embarrassment of her family, Mary would take every chance she could to put on a show whenev er in a public situation. Although she was not talented in any of the activities she decided to undertake, her high opinion of herself and her desire to esteem herself in the eyes of others enabled her to display her supposed talents. Mr. Collins possesses a definite sense of vanity. He is in no way concerned about his own opinion of his character, for as wesee his character leaves much to be desired. All he cares about is what others think of him. He always needs the approval of his present company. When he gives Elizabeth the grand tour of his nothing-spectacular home, he is looking for her approval of hisposition and possessions. It is not important to Mr. Collins for people to like him as a person, they just had better be impressedhis status in life and his connections. Mr. Darcy, as one of the main characters, is for the better part of the novel a focus of the theme of pride. His pride is very obvious. It is a part of his nature and is seen in his mannerisms and in his speech. Darcy has such a high opinion of himself that he does not care what others think of him or his prideful actions. He believes that he is the best in every way possible and finds that his standing in society gives him the right to be critical of those not as perfect as Elizabeth Bennet, the other main character of the novel, is just as guilty of being proud as any of the other characters in the novel. She prides herself on being unprejudiced and rational in the judgement of others. Yet, this is an imaginary quality as she learns that her preconceived notions of both Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham turn out to be false. She is also very proud when Darcy confronts her about her family and connections. Although Darcy s accusations of the unsophistication of certain of her family members are true, Elizabeth is too proud to listen and accept the truth. Instead, she becomes so angered with Darcy that it effects her entire relationship with him. Both Darcy and Elizabeth come to recognize their pri de as a flaw in their respective characters. Darcy realizes that he must check his pride in order to be seen in a good light by others. Elizabeth, the object of his affections, is so turned off by his prideful ways that a touch of vanity enables him to change himself for her. Elizabeth, while observing the transformations of Darcy, realizes that she, too, has been guilty of too much pride. She sees that she was indeed prejudiced and that she must come to terms with the failings of her family. The report aims to provide the hospital with strategies that would help to improve the operations of HRM that are conducted by the CEO. The hospital considered for this particular case study, operates with 400 staffs members in Australia. The organization does not have any particular HR department to manage the organisation in an efficient manner. Due to the presence of virtual functioning of the HR such as HR planning and job analysis, recruitment, training, development and performance management, the managers are unable to perform effective HRM activities. The organisation has been facing a number of challenges in creating a sustainable environment for the organisation. The aim of the study is to identify the role of the HR in the organisation and provide the HR with certain recommended strategies that are beneficial in addressing the issues faced by the organisation that in turn helps to improve the operations of HRM at the hospital. The factors that support the establishment and the development of sustainability HR capability of the organisation will be discussed to support the detailed study. Recommendation for the CEO to improve the operation of HRM at the hospital The absence of proper HR department can be considered as the reason behind the challenges for the quality care and the accidents within the organisation involving the patients and staffs since, other organisations with proper HR activities faces lesser issues. In order to understand the importance of the HRM practices, another similar sized hospital has been taken into consideration that carries out operation under comparable conditions. However, while comparing the organizational performance in context to HRM, it has been noticed that the organisation had been able to create a highly motivated HR team. The HR team met regularly to carry out effective HR planning, job analysis, training and development, recruitment and selection, and manage the organizational performance to ensure sustainability. Since the major issues of the hospital arise from the ineffective HRM activities, it is important for the CEO of the organisation to consider certain effective strategies. The strategies will help to improve the HRM activities and thus provide sustainability to the company to compete in the highly competitive market. According to Schalk, Timmerman Van den Heuvel, (2013), the role of the HR has become difficult, complex and dynamic that increases the need for effective strategies within the workplace. Maslows evaluation theory The Maslows model helps to understand the human needs within an organisation. The theory is effective in explaining why the individuals in the organization behave different that causes certain organisational issues. Therefore, the CEO of the hospital needs to consider strategies that help to motivate employees and reduce the issues. According to the theory, the HR practices that supports in the production have highly influenced the organisational performances. By following the theory, the CEO of the hospital can gain a comparative advantage. However, empirical support to the model is considered to be poor and inefficient as there is difficulty in interpreting and operating its concepts. The strategies that help the organization are as follows: Looking beyond the recruiting and on boarding: Minbaeva (2013) opined that few organisations focus on the recruitment of new employees and completely ignore the employees who already work in the organisation. In order to bring out the effectiveness of the HR practices, it is necessary to remember that the employee engagement needs to go beyond the recruitment and the on boarding process. As it can be inferred that the HRM plays a vital role in every organisation to provide comparative advantage and sustainability by reducing the risk factors and the issues in the organisation. In the opinion of Cascio, (2015), the key functions of the human resource team of the organisation is to carry out proper recruitment process and train the recruited staffs so that they are able to understand the organisational activities, the needs of the organisation and their respective roles. In addition to this, HRM encourages the individuals working in the organisation so that they perform their activities as per the requirements and their potential. The lack of proper HR department and senior HR manager is one of the root causes behind the various challenges faced by the organisation. The CEO of the hospital takes the opinion of a consultant who is responsible for coming down to the organisation once a week in order to oversee the HR policies and practices and its development. The HR is responsible for the management of the overall organisation along with the employee management. From the case study, it can be concluded that the lack of proper HR department and the guidance of the HR managers the hospital faxes a number of issues such as higher turnover, absenteeism, staff grievance and shortage of the employees. These issues further lead to sustainability issue in the market. The issues faced by the hospital needs to be addressed effectively by the HR department so that the risk factors of the organisation can be minimised. The CEO of the organisation can consider strategies for HR to increase their effectiveness. Considering strategies such as looking beyond the recruiting and on boarding, learning the best ways to manage the individual employees, investing into the right technology, and considering transparent approach for communication are effective for the organisation. The story has both the internal and external conflicts. The external conflict was observed in the first part of the story when the haunting of the ghost along with his friends caused fear to the narrator and to other people before him. The said conflict had been exhibited through the antagonistic treatment of the ghost to the residence of the building. The internal conflict was perceived in the latter part of the story, through the conversation between the Giant and the narrator. The internal conflict defined the main purpose of the ghost of the Ca rdiff Giant which was the feeling of tiredness of the ghost versus the need to seek help and justice for his remains. He wanted to rest for a very long time already but the need to bury his remains to a rightful place kept him haunting for a long time. The setting of the story is figuratively and literally descriptive of the characters of the story. The readers can accept the setting as strong part in the story since the basic information had been presented such as the names and the landmarks. Readers know that the story occurred in New York, near a museum and near a street with old buildings. May that be fictitious or real, it had contributed to the whole atmosphere of the story. The distinct imagery brought about by the setting inside the house. The point of view of the story was achieved through the perspective of the narration. This gave credibility to the story by being in the first person thus being a primary experience. Another effect of the point of view was the primal effec t of the story in terms of the feelings being conveyed, for example fear. The story is rich in metaphors and other figurative forms of language. One example is the description of the building which had â€Å"surrendered to dust and cobwebs, to solitude and sadness.† Other figures of speech are â€Å"locking out mould and darkness† and â€Å"cheery fire† which can be found in the first two paragraphs. Beam Behaviour and Magnetic Field of K500 Scc Vinay Singh#, A Dutta, A Agarwal, C Das, B Naik, Z A Naser, S Paul, U Bhunia, J Pradhan, J Debnath Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, 1/AF Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata 700064 Abstract The extraction of the beam from the K500 Superconducting Cyclotron in Kolkata is posing a great challenge. After getting the internal beam, lots of effort was made to extract the beam and thereafter various experiments were designed and done to know the beam behaviour and to investigate the real reason. The deflector electrode was used in the Faraday cup mode. The deflector probe, bore scope probe and the main probe were used to investigate the beam behaviour by varying the first harmonic amplitude and phase with the help of trim-coil no.13 operated in harmonic mode. Finally magnetic field mapping was done. In this paper, all these experimental results are described in detail. INTRODUCTION K500 SCC got its first internal beam till the extraction radius in Aug 2009 [1]. This was confirmed by presence of neutrons in the neutron detector. The main probe and zinc sulphide screen (bore scope) were the only diagnostics available then. After installing the deflector, numerous runs were tried but the beam couldn’t be guided through it. A series of experiments were designed to get into the bottom of the problem. It was then found that the magnetic field was the main reason behind this. This was further confirmed by magnetic field mapping . In this paper the steps leading to this conclusion are described in detail. The electrostatic deflector Deflector as a beam diagnostic element In K500 SCC there are two sets of deflector E1 and E2. The beam first encounters the deflector E1 which spans from 335Â ° to 34Â °. In the normal mode i.e., when the power supply is connected to it, and electric field of around 2.5 MV/m is created by applying high voltage of 20kV between the electrodes. The gap between them is 8mm. To eliminate the possibility, the beam was at all going through the deflector or not, the power supply was disconnected and the deflector was operated in Faraday mode i.e., as a beam diagnostic element. The deflector E1 is not a fixed element, but has certain amount of freedom in respect to its radial distance from the centre of cyclotron. The entry position can be varied from 667 to 671 mm and the exit from 672 to 678 mm. The variation in position of deflector coupled with use of the 1st harmonic coils (to slightly alter the beam curvature) was done repeatedly to get the beam signature on the outer electrode. However no significant beam current could be detected. Use of wire mesh at the entry and copper block at the exit of deflector To further investigate a wire mesh was placed at the entry of the deflector (Fig. 1) and a solid copper block at the exit (Fig. 2). This was done to ensure that any trace of beam reaching the deflector entry can be detected. And this beam if successfully passes through the deflector will be detected by the copper block. So, this time the deflector was used in the normal mode i.e., in the power supply mode. Wide range of 1st harmonic magnetic field amplitude and phase with the help of trim coil no.13 was applied. This was done to vary the beam trajectory near the extraction zone so as to get beam signal from the entry mesh. However no significant beam current could be detected. To further explore this point, the deflector voltage and its orientation were changed through a series of iterative methods, but no current could be detected on the exit copper block. - #[emailprotected] Use of polymer sheets for Beam impression To get a further insight, another attempt was made by putting polymer sheets on the inner portion of the septum at three different locations – one near the entry , second at middle and the last near the exit. After a small amount of beam time the sheets were taken out for chemical analysis. This was done to exclude the possibility of any marks that could have arisen due to the high voltage discharge of the electrode. Only a faint beam impression (Fig. 3) was found on the sheet placed near the deflector and no impression was found on the other two placed further away. Beam characteristics using probes The beam appeared to be not reaching the deflector side, but at the same time the beam was very much available towards the main probe and bore probe, so further investigations were continued to know the off-centeredness of the beam. Description of the Probes The K500 SCC has two kinds of probes- one is the main probe and other is the bore scope. The main probe is meant to ready the intensity of current, whereas the bore scope is means to see the beam spot on a ZnS Screen. The main probe moves over the central spiral line of the hill whereas the bore probe moves across another hill after entering from its corner (Fig. 4). To know whether the beam was shifting towards a particular area or not, need of a third probe was felt. For this reason the deflector was dismantled (to gain access to a port) and another probe called the deflector probe was installed (Fig. 4) along 25Â ° azimuth. Scheme of measurement The beam curvature is not circular but a scalloped one. The local radius of curvature will thus change as the beam proceeds. The curvature will be less at the centre of the hill and more at the valley. Moreover, the three probes are not symmetrically placed with rest respect to the orbit trajectory. So, any data that is taken for the purpose of analysis has to take into account the scalloping of the beam vis-a-vis the position of the 3 probes. Figure 4: Median Plane top view with main probe, bore probe and deflector probe. Profile of the Beam Beam profile with all the 3 probes was measured separately. It was observed that although good amount of beam was available up to the extraction radius ~ 670 mm in main probe and bore probe, but in deflector probe the beam current was falling at ~650 mm without application of any external 1st harmonic field (Fig. 5). Figure 5: Beam profile on 3 probes without any external 1st harmonic. This clearly indicated that beam was shifted towards main probe and bore probe region. Attempts were made to equalize the beam current in all the 3 probes by using different combinations of 1st harmonic amplitude (up to 40 gauss) and phase (1-360Â °). One of those several iteration has been illustrated in figure 6. However, the distribution could not be equalized in all the three probes. From the shadowing of radial distribution of beam by using the said three probes, centering behaviour of the beam was quantified [2]. Figure 6: Beam profile on 3 probes with 15 Gauss 1st harmonic (phase 151Â °) MAGNETIC FIELD MAPPING These observations pointed out towards significant amount of imperfection in field and also towards the fact that this imperfection cannot be taken care of by the beam controlling parameters. Also the absolute phase measurement was done [3], which also pointed out towards the field imperfection. The remapping of the magnetic field was thus contemplated. The magnetic field mapping was done by a search coil. The Calibration factor of the search coil was found out by the use of two NMR probes.The search coil was installed on a zig that was free to move in the horizontal plane. At any azimuth the search coil moved from -1.24inch to 26.4 inches. The mapping was done for different excitations of main magnet coils namely alpha and beta coils The magnetic field mapping found that the average field near the central region was less by around 250 Gauss and the 1st harmonic amplitude was quite high ~ 45 Gauss near the extraction region. Figure 7: 1st Harmonic field amplitude versus Radius Figure 8: Average field versus Radius In figure 7 and 8, the results of the magnetic field mapping is compared with that of the field mapping that was done earlier in year 2006. REMARKS The experimental observation that pointed out towards magnetic field imperfection was verified by remapping of the magnetic field. The correction of magnetic field is currently being done. Criminal Justice vs. Community Justice Crime is defined as an act or omission that the law makes punishable. There are different ways in dealing with crime. One, our current system, is the criminal justice approach. Also known as retributive justice, this system is more offender directed than anything else. The other system, which many people think is better, is the community justice, or restorative approach. The restorative approach is much more victim oriented. There is a debate over which system should be used to deal with crime. The two differ in many ways. One of the areas in which the two differ is the question of whom is the crime a violation of? The criminal justice system believes that crimes are a violation against the state and are punished by the state. On the other hand, the community justice system says that crimes are a violation of the offender, and the community directly affected by it. The focus of criminal justice is retribution. It is focused on the offender and punishing that person for their crime by imprisonment and other punishments. The community justice system is focused on restoration. Community Justice looks to help the victim deal with the violation and try to get back whatever, if any, possessions were lost in the crime. The proceedings, in which a resolution is made, are entirely different between the two. At a criminal justice proceeding, the case is tried by a state prosecutor, in front of a judge and decided by a jury. Other than testifying and possibly a victim impact statement, the victim does not have much say in the case. But in a community justice proceeding it is quite the opposite. All parties involved (which include the offender, the victim, both families, any other p... ... community. Church support groups help offenders who are trying to change there life patterns. One of the major advantages of these programs is that offenders leave the corrections system with greater skills than when they entered into it. As, for being more victim oriented, victims have the chance to shape the obligations the offender has to repair the harm. Also, with the many programs for the victim, including the mediation and government support for victims, they do not feel left out of what goes on after the crime. An argument could last forever on which system is better and why. A better way to look at dealing with crime is to look at it not as this system versus that one , but how can we join the two for a better system. Each has attributes that are necessary , and combining them together would be a good start on the question of how to deal with crime.

The soccer business sure has a certain relation with the performance and their revenues which makes it highly unstable when speaking of forecasted income of the club. We must first value the firm at its current position in order to be able to value as compared to acquiring the new stadium and obtaining a new goal scorer. In order to do so we must evaluate the company by creating a Discounted Cash Flow analysis projecting the expected future revenues in the same current strategy which they are in. We would then lay out the future expected cash inflows with no initial cash out flow laid out due to the fact that they have already covered their initial expenses. We must take into account the growth rates that are expected for our liabilities such as capital expenditures, player salaries, depreciation, and such. We must then evaluate the growth rates for the cash inflows for the revenues expected due from increased ticket prices, product sales, sponsorship and televising their games. We must then implement these rates and growth in numbers to evaluate the future position a number of years down the line. We could then evaluate the current capital structure and their cost of capital in order to determine whether they are fairly valued and obtain a second analysis to compare with. We have sufficient data such as their beta and stock returns in the market in order for us to evaluate these numbers. The case also contains the current risk free rate which is needed when using the Capital Asset Pricing Model in order to obtain the cost of equity of the firm. After performing a multiples analysis we can then compare the two analyses and determined whether the firm is fairly valued. If it is then great, but if not then we have an even greater reason for Tottenham to look into the building of a new stadium. Now that we have their current position we must conduct an analysis regarding the â€Å"what if† the company obtained the new stadium and invested in a new striker. In order to do the following we must take into consideration the initial cash out flow of the new stadium and the two years that the company has to pay it given the current financial situation and their cash excess which is mentioned in the case. Once we have this we can then forecast a pessimistic, a mediocre, and a pessimistic evaluation of their ticket sales and create multiple cash flows which consider the growth rates of all of the costs and revenues that the company will incur given this following move. Once we have this analysis we can then create the same analysis given that we stay in the same stadium, but we invest in a new striker (optimistic, mediocre, pessimistic). Once we obtain the cash flows from the two options mentioned before, we can then infuse both cash flows and compare the position of the company if they were to take the options which they have available to them. We must also play into consideration that the competition of the league has a huge impact on the results of Tottenham as they can have a huge influence on them. For example, Manchester United invests in the so called next big thing in football or one team is on the rise.

I have been given five sources, I will examine them and use my own knowledge to prove how accurate the statement above is. Firstly, source one is a census return of the boats and who lived on them. This source proves that life was hard because the barges had big accommodation with large families but they were only 6ft by 9ft. It was very hard for families that big to live in barges this small. Second is source two. A poster of a Coventry canal caution. The steerer of a boat, Henry Woodward, tried to Invade the Toll, Payable to the Coventry canal company but did not succeed in doing this. This source proves that it was hard to live on a canal in the 19th century because if Woodward was invading the canal, then I could not have been easy living in conditions which included crime and invasion. I cannot find any other evidence in this source. Now I am onto source three, a photo of a family with six members, who probably all lived on the same boat. The two adults (both women) and four children dont look very wealthy and look very sad, depressed. This source proves the statement because it is a family which obviously, lives on a boat which isnt big enough for them all to live in. Source 4 is a campaign about childrens health and safety on the canal. This source proves life was hard because of the same reason as source three, there is not enough room in the boats for a big family. Children should not have to sleep on tables, in cupboards and under a bed, they need there own space to grow up in. ...

As women were supposed to marry at very young ages there was no need for personal and professional growth except being excellent households. In the first stage (0-19 years) of their lives, they were dependent financially on their families, especially fathers, after that they were depended on their husbands. As lives of many of Armenian girls were already decided before they were born, there was no room for education and career. However, even in that kind of situation, there were several motives for pushing women to education and workforce. Industrialization and technology development were some of those reasons. So, we may think that women were not utilized entirely by the society, that’s way with the development the role of women in the family decreased hence increased in the society. And as women started to enter the workforce and get out of their â€Å"home† comfort zone, the need for secure rights and respect increased by them. So, why it was not important to have rights within the family? Here come tradition and culture. Armenian women were always thought from their young ages, that family is the most valuable thing that can happen in their lives and family wife, the mother must always sacrifice their happiness, dreams and overall lives to build a strong and â€Å"ch ild-friendly† environment within their families. As families were big (6 10 members) there was no time left for the women to think about their long-term goals and dreams. They were entirely taken by day-to-day household activities and child’s upbringing, however, I personally think that if girls were taught about other values from younger ages, the society would change itself even with very little steps. It is a cyclical system and all starts from the childhood. There is another argument, that we may also consider: women were accepted as the â€Å"tool† of continuing the nation with next generation. Women were blamed when they were not married because they will not be able to give a birth to a child, especially a boy. And those women who decided not to marry were forced to wear old, black clothes and they needed to cover their faces. There is another crucial fact, as many towns and villages couldn’t provide a primary education mothers were supposed to teach their children as well. So, the way that child’s brain and imagination will be shaped was in the hand of their mothers. At the first glance, we may think that women in poverty or girls who were married by force were the main engine of driving the society into feminist ideas. Because they were the ones who had no voice in the family and society, most of their husbands migrated to other towns to make money. In villages especially, women were publicly harassed for their speech in front of another man. However, the history showed us that feminists were from the elite class of the society, we can see lots of cases both in Armenia and worldwide. So, why were feminists from the highest social class, if they could have anything that they needed? There are several reasons for that, but in this paper, I will consider just two of them: being able to afford higher education; free time. A good education has always been an expansive experience. Even now, when almost every city has its own school and at least one university, for graduating you need to have money. What about 19th centuries? When people started to value the education and wealthy families were seeking to give their children the best education, both for their status and for their next generation’s welfare. Graduates from all institutions that provided higher education were from wealthy families. And only the most wealthy families will spend money for their daughter’s education. From that institutions, girls got only knowledge but a dream of getting more than just having husbands and children. They wanted to use their talents and knowledge to change something in this world. Education â€Å"educate† people to move forward and always take into account one’s individual ways of thinking, sometimes feelings and even just intuition when making decisions. However, all these cannot be i ntegrated into typical Armenian Family\s daily routine. Most of the decision was made by the man and sometimes never advised with the women. Even if the issue is really crucial and important for family’s future. So, the women are a subordinate, just an active resource that can be used based on man’s decision. Some people argue that while the feminist movement certainly opened up jobs and opportunities available to women, it ultimately harmed women, children, and family because it devalued motherhood. With the increase of women in the workforce the birth rate decreased. Middle- Ð °nd lower-middle clÐ °ss women who were suddenly compelled by the ethos of feminism to enter the workforce did not feel liberated once they fÐ °ced the hard truth that working outside the home did not mean work in the home would be equally shÐ °red with mÐ °le partners. So, what is the reason? Is there any solution that could combine a working mother and more children in one family? Yes, in my point of view, there is one. If the life of a woman changes during decades, a routine of man was stable. They haven’t met any crucial changes in their daily routines and plans with this development. And here is the problem. If the father took some of the women’s activities and concerns within the family, everything would be balanced. Because the woman changes entirely after having a child, and in the workplaces, it is not always guaranteed that women could get her job back after maternity leave. Some countries found the solution: paternity leave. Fathers have equal rights to get leave for the newborn baby, and the problem is somehow solved. So, how is this connected to social status? Women from higher social classes have the opportunity of choosing. It can be just an ability to choose a dress or choose a life partner. Along with this, they have more time available (they have servants) for their own interests, so instead of doing household activities they are building their personalities and constructing their own lives. There are lots of examples of wealthy feminists from the history both worldwide and in Armenia. One of the most famous Armenian feminists was Serbouhi Dussab. She was a good example of well-educated, self-confident Armenian women. She was well-known in her time because she had a social status, and it made her voice to be heard. In the traditional Armenian society, it was not always easy to express your opinion as an individual, especially in novels. In her second novel (Siranush, published in 1884) she talked about family life, marriage and women’s right in Armenian families. She stepped into the sphere that was never touched deeply by women. Every question, especially regarding genders, have at least two viewpoints, and it is not always to be in the â€Å"middle†. Women should look into the question of gender equality with a cold heart and sharp mind, or else feelings will make a decision instead of them. This is what we can see in writings of Ms. Srbouhie Dussab. However, in Armenian society women were not only making a difference in literature but also found several charitable funds and organizations, which changed the society’s way of thinking step by step. Some of those organizations were: The School-Loving Ladies Society, founded in 1979 by Ms. Nurik Simanian, Ms. Taguhie Paltazarian, and Mrs. Armaveni Minassian. The goal of the society to promote education of Armenian girls and train teacher for provinces, set private free schools for Armenian girls ; â€Å"Education-loving Ladies†, founded in 1880 and society’s goal was to take care of poo rs, orphans, widows ; â€Å"Union of girls and young men† founded in 1919, an example of joint man and woman organization and â€Å"Armenian Women’s Association† founded in 1919, aimed to contribute to Armenian women’s moral intellectual, material and physical development, establish cooperation between all Armenian women, use Armenian potential to promote the Armenian Cause. The Armenian women’s charitable society of Tiflis Was the largest and long-lived women’s organization. On 4th of December, 1879 114 ladies gathered in the conference hall of the Mariamian-Hovnanian girls’ school, organized fundraising, raised 407 rubles for sending to Constantinople. On 31st of December, 1881 Society’s Charter was adopted. According to the Charter, the goal of the Society was to promote the education of women: a. by opening and maintaining a private school for females at its own cost b. by supporting parochial schools for females with its own funds as well as by assisting those women that wish to become teachers in parochial schools\. The society also granted scholarships for unmarried women to study education or medicine. Within first 10 years, Society organized 11 balls, 6 performances, 3 concerts, 2 public lectures, all of which proved quite successful as fund-raisers. One of the most memorable organizations was Armenian Society â€Å"Meghu† in Tiflis â€Å"Meghu† decided to stop poverty by waging war against women\s unemployment. First, there was the issue of cheap labor. The number of job-seekers is constantly on the rise and fear of starvation forces workers to accept lower wages. Second, there was a danger of the flaw of living at the expense of someone else\s labor. The founders of the Society divided those living at someone else\s labor into two groups, evil-doers or robbers, and beggars. \A beggar with his rags and nakedness does the same thing as a robber: beggary, too, is a trade and a mask, which can be used to peacefully rob someone without running any risk.\ A power was needed that would help them at the time of despair and would encourage them. The class came to the conclusion that the existing charities were powerless to fight against a huge force of economic crisis. Those women came up with an idea of establishing a purely democratic association that would be able without hurting people\s self-respect to provide the unfortunate victims of our materialistic age, especially women. Armenian female workers are the most oppressed, ill-used and exploited social class because, on the one hand, of their shyness and, on the other hand, of the overall economic situation. Women earned their living with home-craft (ex. sewing, and they would make kopecks).The Society set a goal of establishing the \House of Work\ (workshops) and of assisting in promoting the cause of eliminating illiteracy of poor women. Workshops, such as dress-making, dry-cleaning, cardboard, artificial flowers, basketry, cooking. For 13-17 years old-sold girls society opened a school. The final decision was that only girls that have a level of knowledge equal to the graduates of the parochial elementary school shall be admitted to the school at the Meghu House of Work. As mentioned before, a good education and self-confidence can have a cyclical effect and attract more women to take their lives in their hands. Maybe the engines of feminism revolution were a wealthy woman, but they helped the society to understand the importance of equality in every sphere of life. They changed the world by writing novels, founding organizations, societies, and schools. Importance of a good education is rising day-by-day and feminists have a huge role in it by their activities. They brought the problems of women from top to the lives of people and made middle- and low- social class women to think about their futures by themselves.

Many people pass this concrete stucco looking office on the strip mall. Most people who pass by may go to the bar next door to Dr. Mason’s chiropractic office. No one pays much attention to a place where all the windows are low tinted dark with a door that has the word doctor on it. People only look for doctors when they are injured or sick. I’m sure the lighted Budlight sign flashing and smell of food attract more people. It was different than what I expected from a doctor’s office. Surprisingly the roof was flat not pointed like most offices and not a very tall building. I expected lots of rocks, small bushes near the door, smooth concrete building with slight indentions for decoration, metal plaque inside the concrete and the area to be surrounded by other doctor offices. I was nervous as I stepped over the curb and onto the side walk to the entrance. â€Å"What if she is really busy or rude,† I thought, â€Å"But massage therapist are usually nice and calm.† The door was average height and swung open very easily. Inside the clinic it smelled crisp and was cool. The sun shined through the windows where the shade was raised. All the walls were painted in a slight off-white color. Instead of the typical tile or vinyl flooring carpet was used. The freestanding reception desk was in an open area with plants, filing cabinets, and a copy machine next to it. Behind the desk was a full height wall that changed to a chest height wall. In the open office there are two chiropractic tables, which were separated by a wall that is about chest height. On the other side of the room is a traction station, two stretching machines, a massage chair. In the lobby section of the open office there are two flat screen TVs and lots of children movies... ... people to unwind and relax. Mary entered the job knowing her skills and prepared to put them to work. A massage â€Å"is the manipulation of superficial layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance the function and promote relaxation and well-being.† I asked Mary if she like her job. â€Å"I love my job it is never boring I treat people from ages ten to seventy-five. I love helping people and I find the human body fascinating. Today people are trying to live a long and health by taking care of their body, my job helps.† There are many schools that offer massage therapy. Anyone who would like to pursue it as a major should be comfortable with touching other people. Before leaving I told Mary I appreciated the time she took to allow me to interview her. I was satisfied overall with the interview. The environment made me happy that I chose a relaxing career to explore.

The character Macbeth contradicts his moral responsibility in this play a great deal; many moral questions are brought forth to Macbeth. Macbeths ambition causes him to compromise his honour, he doesn’t take into consideration that he is being trusted and that every action that he takes will have a reaction. Macbeth attains his position as king unjustly. As is evident by the conclusion, justice prevails as usual and Macbeths demise is a result of his evil deeds. Macbeth negates his moral responsibility as a person as well as a king. He doesn’t take into consideration that he will pay for all the evil deeds that he executes. Killing Duncan is the worst crime that is possible to commit since the kings were the closest in hierarchy next to god. It is evident that Macbeth is aware that this is an evil sin when he states, â€Å" I dare do all that may be come a man, who dares do more is none.† (Act I Scene VII, Line 46-47) The previous statement shows that Macbeth believes that killing Duncan will make him nothing more than a beast. Nevertheless he goes against his morals and kills King Duncan. Sin is a prevalent theme in this play, Macbeth shows that he knows he has lived a sinful life, â€Å"Seyton I am sick at hearth, when I behold Seyton I have live’d long enough.† (Act V Scene III, Lines 20-22) Ambition takes over Macbeth when he decides to hire assassinators to kill Macduffs wife and children, â€Å"The castle o f Macduff I will surprise; seize upon Fife; give to the edge of the sword in this line.† Lanoue 2 (Act IV Scene I Lines 150-153) Macbeth shows the insignificance of his morals and responsibilities by his actions, he shows that becoming king is of much more importance.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The weird sisters (witches) have a great impact on Macbeths state of mind when he decides to follow through with many of his actions. Organizational Structure Essay

To be successful in today’s world, organizations must quickly respond to a competitive and continuous changing environment. In most cases that means being innovative, reinventing themselves’ and changing many of the established ground rules of their own industry. Organizational leaders can’t allow their staff to settle and be content with ideas of the past. Organizations must challenge its management staff to embrace change while continuing to look for ways and methods to improve. In many instances, an organization’s structure can impact the degrees of its successes. For instance, an organization with a decentralized structure, which has open communication system, tends to be more innovative. Organizations that are more highly centralized with most of the decisions being made at the upper level, tend to be much slower in their actions because of decisions that are handed down from level to level, where as the decentralized organizations tend to react faster because it empowers its employees and allows them to make decisions at all levels of the organization. An organizational system that is being used world wide by many organizations is that of the cross-functional team. This team concept brings together employees from various functional units within the division and it enables them to implement and integrate new ideas more rapidly, because of the upfront teamwork that limits the amount of trial and error normally associated with change. The cross-functional team approach provides an upfront opportunity to research the impact decisions will have on each functional area and modify them accordingly. The organizing function of management is the deployment of organizational resources to achieve strategic goals. The deployment of resources is reflected in the organization’s division of labor into specific departments and jobs, formal lines of authority, and mechanisms for coordinating diverse organization tasks. Organizing is important because it follows strategy. Strategy defines what to do, and organizing defines how to do it. The organizing process leads to the creation of organization structure. Organization structure is a tool that managers use to harness resources for getting things done. Organization structure is defined as the set of formal tasks assigned to individuals and departments; formal reporting relationships, including lines of authority, decision responsibility, number  of hierarchical levels, and span of managers’ control; and the design of systems to ensure effective coordination of employees across departments. Parker Powertrain primarily utilizes a decentralized organizational structure. Although we are part of a six billion dollar organization, most decisions that impact our division are made within our division. The organization does have many centralized strategic goals that are handed down to all divisions, but each division also has its own internal strategic goals that apply to and impact only that division and its customers and product markets. Parker Powertrain also utilizes the cross-functional team concept within its division for most of its continuous improvement ideas. We have cross functional teams that work on product design, six sigma, scrap reduction, new product launches, cost reduction, and productivity improvements. We even have teams that focus on improving communication, along with recognizing and rewarding employees for outstanding performances and behavior. Depending on the tasks at hand, employees are chosen from all vital departments within the division, and on man y occasions some employees are chosen from non-vital departments, just to offer a little diversity to the team. We have several formal cross-functional teams which are part of the organization’s formal structure. These teams usually consist of the same members all the time, and their primary focus is usually planning the strategic goals within the division. We also have special purpose teams, which have a specific purpose and once that purpose is complete the team disbands. An example of our special purpose teams would be our communication and our rewards and recognition team. They were brought together to help fix or improve a problem, and once they are finished the team will dissolve. Another type of cross-functional team that our division uses is a problem-solving team. This type of team usually consists of hourly associates from within the same department who voluntarily meet to discuss ways of improving quality, scrap, and productivity. These teams continue to focus and work on those types of problems as they arise. Although our organization is already utilizing many of the tools mentioned in this article, I still believe we at Parker Powertrain can benefit more by implementing more of the problem-solving teams. We have several of our  departments that currently don’t utilize this method, and they could improve many of their daily tasks if they would evaluate them and look for improvements. Unfortunately, we still have several managers that seem to be from the dark ages and don’t realize that our employees are our greatest asset, and that usually they can develop ideas and methods that can greatly improve processes because they can bring the knowledge that comes from first hand experience. My challenge to my divisional staff would be for them to either replace those managers that are holding the rest of us back, or convince them to seek the training and the skills necessary to enable them to brace change head on. Carbon Budgeting Carbon Budgeting Carbon budgeting is a project currently carried out by nearly all the countries in the world today. It is closely linked to the carbon trade concept which simply refers to the contributions of all the major industrial powers to the provision of a green economy. In other words, carbon trading is a situation in which all the developed nations contribute a share of their budget to clean the environments. Since it these countries which greatly contributes to the environmental pollution, it is incumbent upon them to allocate resources to ensure that they clean the environment. Typically, the emission of green gasses is mainly done by the developed countries. However, they do not suffer from their effects since the most affected victims are the vulnerable people from the Less Developed Nations (Helm, D., 2005). According to the Kyoto Protocol of 1997, all the 38 industrialized countries are supposed to provide funds to be used in the cleanliness of the environment. However, this does not imply that they should spend the money in their home countries. Instead, these funds should be sent to these developing nations to be used in the process of cleaning their environment. In other words, the money is used in the planting of more trees. It is only through this exercise that more forests can emerge to be used as cleaning agents of these places. Despite the fact that each country has its own internal policies regarding this matter, it is important to note that they are all obliged to adhere to the terms of Kyoto Protocol which are quite categorical and precise in this matter. Since humanity has failed to observe environmental ethics, it is undoubtedly accepted to assert that the biodiversity has suffered a lot because of these perceived anthropogenic destructions done to the ecosystem. Carbon budgeting is necessary because it is the only way through which people can be salvaged from the harmful effects of such irresponsible use of the natural resources. As already highlighted, it is only the poor people who suffer from the effects of green gas emissions done by the rich North. Failure to avert this problem has led to global warming which has resulted into unpredictable weather patterns normally characterized by increased temperatures, droughts and floods. These have, in one way or another, caused a perpetual hunger and diseases such as cancer which have of course led to the loss of many lives. As was explained in the Kyoto conference, it is the third world countries which greatly feel the pains of green gas emissions because of their vulnerability. A part from being extremely poor, they are more vulnerable since they can not adequately protect themselves from the effects of such degradations (Smith, S., 2008). In other terms, it is only those who do not contribute to the pollution who suffer most from the effects of the destructions. This is what compels the major contributors to channel a large portion of their budget to sponsor this exercise. A lot of money should therefore be sent to the developing countries to help the in planting a lot of trees. If this is properly done, there will be a large area under forest coverage. Hence, the environment will be cleaned from the green gas emissions. If this is done, life will be better because these people will be saved from their problems such as wars which are always attributed to pollution. It is generally accepted that these people often fight for the few resources such as food which have become scarce because of climate change (Nordhaus, W., 2007). On the other hand, carbon budgeting may entail carrying out of cleanliness activities within the polluting countries. This means that the governments which are responsible for green gas emissions should launch environmental protection programs aimed at reducing such emissions within their territorial borders. They can carry out initiatives such as stopping certain projects which are believed to be the chief source of pollutions. At the same time, stringent regulations can be enforced to advocate for Environmental Impact Assessments before establishing any project which may be a recipe to environmental pollution. If funds are channeled to the Third World Countries as a carbon trading initiative, deliberate efforts must be taken to ensure that they are used in a right manner. Nobody should be any opportunity to misappropriate them (James R.F., 2010). They should not be spent in a selfish manner. Instead, it should be known that this is a kind of project done for the benefit of the entire world to cater both for the current and future generations. Similarly, carbon budgets can be used for providing environmental education to the people. Even if man is the chief source of pollution in the world today, it must be accepted that most of their activities are conducted because of ignorance. Many people are not aware of the environmental ethics which demand that the environment should be used sparingly in a sustainable manner in order to provide a sustainable economic growth. Life is a cyclic continuous process which involved successive generations. However, none of them should suffer because of the irresponsible consumption of others (Glasson, J. et al., 2007). In this regard, I would like conclude by agreeing with the fact environmental consciousness is the most important tool which everyone should be armed with. No one should be selfish in the use of natural resources since they are essential for the life of the entire biodiversity. Deliberate efforts must be taken to ensure that pollution is eliminated. Otherwise, adequate funds should be provided through the carbon budget initiative to ensure that all the emissions generated so far; are eliminated.

Oral Communication Essays - Communication, Human Communication Oral Communication Once viewed as two separate disciplines, business and communication, have now meshed together to produce a hybrid business environment in which the everyday functions of business are intimately tied to communication (Pincus, 1997). Communication in the business world is imperative for success. This holds true for interpersonal communication, communication between management and staff, and for practically every other contact a business has, both within its own establishment and the outside world. Effective communication is critical for the success of any organization. Through the use of proper communication skills, individuals will be better able to function as a group, thus allowing organizations to share information, analyze situations and to set goals (Nelton, 1995). Communicating properly among peers improves an individuals all around skills. The more successfully a business functions the better it enables employees to perform jobs better. Managers pass on information and train subordinates more effectively, and in general a business has a better chance of profiting. In todays turbulent economic environment and rapid technological change, communication is critical in allowing a business to deal with the restructuring of national and international economies, in preventing market saturation, and in allowing a business to deal with their competitors more effectively (Nelton, 1995, PG). Cushman and King (1997) have proposed the high speed management to describe this new busin ess environment. They emphasize the importance of communication in this theory and conclude that: In the final analysis it is the innovative, adaptable, flexible, efficient, and rapid use of information and communication which allows an organization to reorient rapidly and successfully in a volatile business environment. Another very important factor in the changing business environment is that of globalization (Nelton, 1995). It is very evident when we look at the current state of world affairs that our world is becoming a smaller place. We now have overnight delivery of packages, email communication and the ever so popular cellular communication. Globalization and increased international business can be directly attributed to mass media and mass transit. With new technologies such as videophone, Internet chat and Internet meeting rooms the thought of globalization becomes a reality for even the smallest of companies. The concept of globalization sometimes approaches this change as being one which either should or will result in a complete homogenization of culture and the formation of a unified global community. At the very least globalization will result in a number of distinct border cultures, which are hybrids of interacting cultures. What this means is that the savvy business person not only ha s to be prepared to communicate with those of his or her own culture but also with other cultures (Nelton, 1995). Many obvious precipitators of this increased business contact between the worlds cultures can be attributed to this globalization phenomenon. One of the reasons is international agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement. The North American Free Trade Agreement was initiated between the United States, Canada, and Mexico on January 1, 1994. This agreement referred to as the trade agreement has had a huge impact on exchange of material and cultural goods between the United States and other nations in North America as well as on the degree of business communication which occurs between these countries. Increased business diversity is not only occurring because of factors such as the North American Free Trade Agreement, it is also occurring because of a greater number of cultures within business itself. Women in the workplace are also making the work force more diversified and increasing the need for more effective communication skills (Nelton, 1995). It is an acknowledged fact that conversational styles and communication skills vary between cultures and genders (Nelton, 1995).
